Hom-I ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Hom-I family organization application and the website at hom-i.net. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our services.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: name, email address, and password when you register.
  • Family content: calendar events, to-do items, meal plans, recipes, and grocery lists you create.
  • Connected Google services: when you connect Google Calendar (to see and edit your events) or Google Tasks (to manage your tasks), we access those events and tasks to display, sync, and let you edit them in Hom-I. We store the OAuth tokens encrypted at rest and a synced copy of the events and tasks in our database. The same applies to iCloud and Outlook if you connect them.

Information we collect automatically

  • Basic server logs (IP address, request timestamps) for security and debugging.
  • We do not use third-party analytics cookies on this marketing website without your consent.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide and maintain the Hom-I service.
  • To sync your calendars, tasks, and other data with third-party providers you have authorized.
  • To communicate with you about your account (transactional emails only).
  • To diagnose technical problems and improve the service.

3. AI features and your data

Hom-I includes an optional assistant that can summarize your day and create or edit items on your behalf. When you use it, the relevant content (including calendar events and tasks, which may originate from Google) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, solely to fulfill your request in real time. This data is not used to train or improve any AI or machine-learning model. Anthropic retains API data for up to 30 days for security purposes and then deletes it, and no human reviews it in the normal course. AI features that generate content, such as recipe generation, use only the text you type and never receive your Google data.

4. How we share your information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share your data only in these limited circumstances:

  • Third-party providers you connect: when you sync with Google, Apple, or Microsoft, data is shared with those providers according to their respective privacy policies.
  • Service providers: we use Anthropic to provide the AI assistant features described above. Data sent to Anthropic is processed only to deliver the feature you requested and is never used for AI model training. See Anthropic's Commercial Terms and Privacy Policy for their handling.
  • Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public.

5. Data security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Third-party integration credentials are encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption. We apply access controls to limit who can access your data within our infrastructure.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your information.

6. Data retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict how we process your data.
  • Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format).

8. Children's privacy

Hom-I is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Google API Services Limited Use disclosure

Hom-I's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: we use Google user data only to provide and improve the calendar and task features you request; we do not transfer or sell it for advertising or any unrelated purpose; we do not use it to train generalized AI or machine-learning models; and we do not allow humans to read it except with your consent, for security, to comply with law, or as required to operate the features.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a prominent notice in the app. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
